My Florida Update

Last week I went to Florida with my Dad, Miss Karen, Kirsten, and Hollice. When I was in Florida I went to the beach a lot and got really bad sunburn on my face and my shoulders. Now I am really peely and gross and Wally keeps on calling my disease-boy. Also while we were there my Dad bought me 2 cool T-shirts and a shark's tooth which is 3 inches long and 3 inches wide. My friends went fishing while we were in Florida, but I didn't go with them. They caught 20 fish. 2 of them were really big and weighed about 2 pounds!!!!

The Cobra

Dear Rodney, Laura, James, Jen, Sharon and Big Papa. Here is some interesting about the cobra that you may not know: Cobras are poisonous snakes found in Africa and Asia. There are six species of cobras. Five species live in Africa. But it is the king cobra, also call the Hamadryad, that people think of first. The king cobra is found in India and the Philippines.

Cobras are sometimes used in street shows in India. Theses snakes often have their fangs removed or their mouths sewn shut so they cannot hurt their handler.

Cobras are predators. This means they must eat other animals to stay alive. Snakes cannot hear well or see very far. But their tongues are very useful when hunting.

Each time the tongue flicks out of a snakes mouth it tests the air and ground around it. In the snake's mouth is the Jacobson's organ. It analyzes what the tongue picks up. This helps the cobra track its prey.
